With 30 years of experience in architecture, construction, and construction management, Vol Carter is a seasoned problem solver in an industry full of challenges. Whether working as a planner, designer, entitlement specialist, or construction manager, he expertly navigates obstacles to ensure projects are successfully completed from inception to closeout. His ability to foster strong relationships with clients, building officials, contractors, and tradespeople sets him apart.
Vol’s expertise spans multifamily residential (low to high density), commercial, institutional, and educational projects—both private and government-funded, ranging from small to large-scale developments. He values professionalism, respect, and direct communication while delivering high-quality results. His persistence and deep industry knowledge enable him to overcome regulatory hurdles and project complexities with efficiency.
Previously, Vol served as Director at KTGY Group – Oakland, where he managed large multifamily developments and led a team of 25 architects and staff. As Regional Vice President of Ei – Northern California, he oversaw operations and financials for Ei’s four divisions: Energy Inspectors, Ei Engineering, Ei Risk Management, and Ei Design. His earlier roles include Senior Project Manager at Van Tilburg, Banvard & Soderbergh (VTBS) and Senior Project Architect at Fisher Friedman Associates (now NBBJ), among others.
Additionally, Vol’s background as a designer/builder gives him a pragmatic approach, blending technical expertise with hands-on experience. His clients include some of North America’s largest developers—such as DR Horton, KB Home, and Toll Brothers—along with the University of California, CSU, commercial businesses, individuals, and nonprofit organizations.
